Secretary Barbara Lindsey
Carl has
been a member of the Machinists Union, Local Lodge 1595 since 1972. He worked at
Teledyne Portland Forge as a maintenance welder. Carl has served in numerous
capacities including negotiating and grievance committees. He was President of
Local Lodge 1595 from 1985 through 1987, when he began serving as Business
Representative for District Lodge 90 until his appointment in August 1997 as a
Special Representative in the
Eastern
Territory
. He became a Grand Lodge Representative on February 1, 1998.
Carl
graduated from
Portland
High School
in 1964 and completed 3 years undergraduate work at
Ball
State
University
toward a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Management. He has
completed many job oriented training seminars and a variety of union leadership
courses.
He
also served as the IAMRA Vice President and Eastern Territory Steward for four
years until the IAMRA elections held in September 2007. Prior
to his retirement on December 31, 2007, Grand Lodge Representative Ashman served
as the Eastern Territory National Labor Relations Board Representative and
Organizing in the Regional
Office
. Carl also worked as the Territory's HPWO Representative; Saftey
& Health Rep.; Construction
& Erection Rep.; and Negotiated Service Contracts and First Agreements.
The
members and officers of the IAMRA extend our best wishes to Carl and his
family for a safe and prosperous retirement.
